Each year, the Exchange Club of Highlandtown-Canton awards a college scholarship to one high school senior who lives in Southeast Baltimore.
The full award is a $10,000 scholarship, distributed annually over each of the student’s four years of full-time enrollment ($2,500 per year).
Who is Eligible?
Any high school senior who:
- is planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university
- lives in one of the following zip codes: 21224, 21231, 21205, and 21202
In order to become a finalist for the scholarship, a student must demonstrate:
- financial need
- exemplary citizenship
- community service
- good character
The student must also be highly recommended by their teachers and mentors.
Process
Finalists are selected after submitting a completed application, which includes a short essay and supporting academic history. The finalists are invited to interview with Exchange Club members. From those interviews, one student is be awarded the scholarship as part of an Exchange Club ceremony.
The Scholarship is awarded without regard to race, color, or creed, to a college-bound student whose college plans demonstrate significant financial need.
